Yamato of Digimon

Do you remember when we were kids, we all imitated characters. I took the shoes of Yamato or Matt of Digimon. He had that appeal to me as a kid. He was the rebel yet still pursued the greater good for all with friendship as his main virtue. I can remember it clearly that the only way to realize the power of the crest of Friendship was when the virtue was fully exhibited in the bearer. I remember when his was realized; he felt so helpless that he could not help his friends. He only thought of his friends and saving them. And with that, his digimon was able to evolve. That is why I wanted to learn how to play the harmonica because Matt could and plays it during his softest times.

Maybe, I imitated him because I envy him. I envied him because he has the virtue of Friendship and I don't. He could be the filling in to my frustrations, perhaps. Since elementary, I only had a handful of friends. I actually do not know if they were really my friends. Up to the present, I share the same dilemma with my 6-year old me. I've always wondered why. I could be imitating more people and treat it as myself; therefore, I lose myself. I tried to imitate no one and try to live it up. Still, no luck. The best people, I believe are those who has personality, whether strong or not, as long as they have a good grip on it. Do I have one? Do I have my own scent?, as the movie Perfume puts it.

About Time

I believe it's again time to revive this.

Now, About ATHEISM.

I have been joining atheist groups in Facebook for a couple of weeks now. In actuality, I'm not an Atheist or nowhere near it; I'm just observing them and see how their arguments play. So far, I am not quite happy about their plausible, or if I really must call them, arguments. They all throw this stuff against the Roman Catholic Church. ONLY TO THE RCC. What they are throwing are all crappy and absurdity.

For now, I will speak about them. I am not generalizing the whole Atheist group but only the individuals I have seen in Facebook. We have the calamity coming- the tsunami from Japan. They are all whining how people in facebook are asking fo God's help and prayers. Yes, they may think that it is absurd- how we call for help, for them, from an imaginary being. But if I will be given a chance to ask them, I will raise the point of alternatives. What should we do, if we do not ask for help? What can we do? Go to the coastal areas and save all the people? Go to Japan and give them relief goods? I mean, we are in a situation where we are just waiting for the calamity to happen. Nobody can stop it. And they present no alternative for they do not have a so-called imaginary and all-powerful being to ask help for. At least for theist, they have Someone to ask help for. Not only that, it gives them that hope and light that there is an omnipotent God that will take care of them.  Furthermore, it keeps the people from sinking into despair. With that hope, they are able to act because they know that WE will be safe at the end of the day. And what is it for the Atheist? Die in despair.

Religion has existed for a reason. Not only because of Morality but also of practical reasons. Religion, even in the sociological perspective, plays an important role in a micro and macro levels of society.

And so, I believe that Theism is still better than Atheism.

Sobra lamang ako natuwa. :)

Maganda, hindi ba?
Reader-Response Theory

Reader-centered blog.

It's nice to see the blogging world. It's nice to get new perspectives.

One school year will already pass. One month more, 2nd year will come our way. Matatapos na ang InTACT. Galing. AH! Good Timess! Looking back, many things had happened the past year. Some may be significant, some may not be. And some only passed by.

Pagmumuni.

Good thing come in small packages. Random thought lang.

These past few days, all I have been thinking of is US CAPITALISM, NEOCOLONIALISM and ELECTIONS. I need some time off from all these. I need adventure, romance, or even Wushu. Football, perhaps? Math? Classical music is also a good choice. Astronomy is cool.

I just miss children with lively hearts.

Would I be a Lawyer? Accountant? A teacher? An Activist for change? These children are my inspiration. No. These children are only part of my inspiration-Philippines. I would hold on to the hope that Philippines will be all together great yet humble. I would look forward to this friday's talk by Dr. Lumbera. I will.

Napakagaling. Kahanga-hanga.

Ano kaya? Sa tingin mo?

Remembering Sunday

Remembering Sunday
by: All Time Low

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Woke up from dreaming
And put on his shoes
Starting making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
Leaning out into the breeze
Remembering Sunday he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last like the feeling of what he needs
Now this place is familiar to him
She pulls on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him up stairs
Left him dying to get in

Forgive me I’m trying to find
My calling, I’m calling at night
Don’t mean to be a bother
But have you seen this girl?
She’s been running through my dreams
And its driving me crazy it seems
I’m gonna ask her to marry me

Even though she doesn’t believe in love
He’s determined to call her bluff
Who can deny these butterflies
They’re filling his gut
Waking the neighbors
Unfamiliar faces he pleads though he tries
But he’s only tonight
Now he’s dying to get inside

Forgive me I’m trying to find
My calling, I’m calling at night
Don’t mean to be a bother
But have you seen this girl?
She’s been running through my dreams
And its driving me crazy it seems
I’m gonna ask her to marry me

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn’t think much of it then
But it started to all make sense
Oh I can see now
That all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my who ever
Where ever she may be

[Juliet Simms:]
I'm not coming back
I've done something so terrible
I’m terrified to speak the truth you'd expect that from me
I’m mixed up, I’ll be blunt
Now the rain is just washing you out of my hair
And out of my mind
keeping an eye on the world
So many thousands of feet off the ground
I'm over you now I'm not home in the clouds
Showering over your hair

[Alex Gaskarth:]
I guess ill go home now
I guess ill go home now
I guess ill go home now
I guess ill go home now

You were Growing?

Separation may just be another word for growing.
I saw some of my high school friends and teacher this late afternoon. Yes, I was really glad to see them once again. We had TONS of stories to tell. *Or was that just me?* Still, we never got enough time to tell all the stories we have. We have been so much away from each other that we just changed. And, I mean good change! We have developed our own beliefs and culture. We have been so different to the extent that we had stories that is new for the other.
I had been really happy to see and talk to them again at an unexpected times. I was even more surprised with the changes that happened within ourselves. We were gaining so many things. That is why I still believe that you should put yourself first before going to your comfort zones, where your friends are. Oh how good to see them again, with different lifestyles, belief system and wisdom. I would like to see one day that we could exchange enough experiences that we acquired such that one begins to change one another, in a good way. Unlike before, we were having same experiences, same formation; change was parallel with one another; you learn not many things from your companion. And now, oh how good. We were wise in our own little things. I'm imagining when 2, 3, or even 5 years has passed. I like to see when we change the lives of one another. That's what I like now; you get to choose who you become by being offered various egos and opportunity. When, the society is changed because of us. I'd like to hope for that one day of becoming and realization.

A man for others. A man for the society. A man who will not settle for the lesser, yet for the Greater scheme of things.

Makisalo. Kumain. Makilala. Makasama. Maging Isa.

Repost. Be(This) Honest.

This is my Final Be Honest Speech for English Practical Test. =). Mas Gusto ko yung I have A dream. haha. ;). Hope You like it.

Telling what honesty is is easy to do. But living with honesty is more difficult especially in these times where dishonesty is in our culture; though it’s possible if we put our mind and heart into it. But what is honesty, anyway?
In a story, a father defined honesty to his son as “Returning things that are not yours to its rightful owner”. But the story doesn’t end there. The father was with his friend. His friend was showing him a brand new Swiss Knife. The father envied his friend. And when he found a Swiss Knife on his taxi, he didn’t return it. When he came home, he was told that his son got the highest grade for his work entitled “My Father is an Honest Man”. The father thought for a second. In the end, the father returned the Swiss Knife he found.
See? Defining honesty is easy but living it is a different matter. If it wasn’t for his son, he wouldn’t return the Swiss Knife he found.
Honesty, as dictionary defines it, is parallel with honor. It is being faithful to the truth, to reality. I asked some of my friends what honesty is for them. One complimented me that it was found in me! One said that we should have limits in honesty; that we should know when to be honest or not and that we should be ready for the consequences. She has a point. We should only be honest with people who have enough valid reasons to know the truth and we should be ready for the consequences that entail it. Honesty should bring goodness to yourself or to other people and not harm or endanger people, shouldn’t it?
Another answer I had was that the young people nowadays take honesty for granted. They tell only parts but not the whole truth and its up to the receiver to interpret the fragments of truth. To be honest, I sometimes do the same thing but I also agree with what my friend said. We take advantage, commonly to our parents, because nobody can see or scold us but then, there is still someone who sees us.
Do you still remember when we were still kids, when our parents usually warn us about telling lies because if we do, our noses will get elongated like Pinocchio or our tongues will be cut off. Today, I would only laugh at them. I was a really weak kid then so I got scared of their warnings but indeed, it has built my value of honesty in me and maybe, it’s also true for others.
But how come there are still youth who still tells lie? How did it become so rampant in our present times? As a youth who tells lies, maybe I can give some reasongs why we lie. We lie because of several factors: Tact, Peer Pressure, Fear of Consequences, We don’t want anybody to know negative things about us or we see or learn it from our elders.
We sometimes see it in our elders. They say that no child is born a liar, “Ang bata ay hindi marunong magsinungaling. “ A child is full of innocence, isn’t he? But because we see it in our elders, we, thinking that lying is fine, imitate them. Imagine if the son in the story I told knew that his father wasn’t really honest. The father would destroy the innocence of the child.
Fear of Consequences. We get so fearful an we don’t act mature so we tell lies. We don’t face what lies ahead; instead, we escape them through lies.
Tact. We don’t want to hurt other people’s feelings so we lie. We tell that our friend’s work is beautiful but in reality its not. And if we tell the truth, sometimes we are called rude. Peer Pressure.  But being honest and being rude is very different. Being rude is being noisy and insensitive. Being honest is telling the truth. But we are only called rude because people sometimes don’t want to accept the truth. They have their view and if the opinion of others contradicts him, he calls him rude. They cant handle it. It only depends on the person how he will accept it, as a constructive criticism or a negative thing. Have you been or have you met a person like that? So let us all be honest if we want to make the life of our loved ones better. But when we tell them the truth, just tell them personally, and not humiliate them.
On the other hand,  if us youth continue this habits of lying, we would bear it until we grow up. We, the future leaders of society, should have the value of honesty to avoid corruption, further destruction of the innocence of children etc. We should change this habit NOW because we will find a hard time changing this when we are already grown-ups.
We all could start with little things. Big things come in small packages, as they say, First we be honest with charity meaning, we tell the WHOLE truth WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. We should not cheat in exams, stop making those “1-2-3’s” in jeepneys, pay the right amount, return the excess change or the things you fine. Just simple things. And these simple things will surely have an effect. And if every youth does it, it will have a bigger impact. As an Non-Government Organization says, “As individual, we are one drop; Together, we are an ocean. “
“Be honest, even if others are not, even if others will not, even if others cannot.” So with this, I ask you to join with me to this advocacy to the path of honesty. Let us go against the flow of Culture of Dishonesty. Remember that being is honest is having the sense of honor and  “Truth Fears No Questions!”

To Dream

To dream to to never fear failure. How is that , Paulo? How?

How will all these things MATTER?

Is religion a mere dependence to somebody? Somebody to blame when all things fail? Somebody to ask when all hopes are up? Why can't it be just yourself? Blame yourself when all things fail? Ask yourself when all hopes are up? Why can't we depend on our powerful self because we have more power we could think of. Why?

Probably the Last Post for the Decade

Has it been ten years already? 2000-2009. We are the generation of the 2000's.

I had just been a grade 2/3 student in the year 2000. I was only 7/8 years old. How far has that been? How much has changed? With me and the things around me? Friendster was not yet 'uso' that time! Or has it been? :-/

How much scientific discovery has been made these past 10 years? I remember that the single-core desktops are where the demands pointed. Now, we have quad-cores and laptops in a phone! If juxtaposed the two, you would not notice the phone anymore due to the enormousness of the desktop. In Astronomy, where are right now? Hotels in space!! Worth what? Billions of Billions (and yes, BILLIONS) of DOLLARS; not just peso!

As for me, how much has changed? What has changed and what has remained? What was my height then? 4" something? I was then always in front of the line. Now what? Last line I went to, I was at the back.
I only then knew of pooping in my pants and some stuff. Now, it came to my knowledge how much I did not know about the world; how ignorant I am back then and right now.

How much of our politics has changed? I DO NOT KNOW. I do not even know then that there is such thing as POLITICS. As far as I know, now, people are shedding blood. I cannot help but think of the eruption of Mayon Volcano. Has the archipelago himself (yes, not it) got mad to us? Political-related Killings. Uncontented-with-power President. Hopeless Elections.

How do you go from point A to point B? Form a straight line. But how? With a bridge? Road perhaps? or using a Boat?  Made of what? Resources? Materials? Workers? Crew? It really seems difficult. Why cannot we have instructions to get to point A to B. Damn it.

Putting all these things at the back, I am still looking forward for the next decade. 2010. God, what will lie before us and how will we deal with what is behind us. Life is as its full speed. I cannot afford to be left behind. My sister graduating in less than 2 years. Soon, I am next. I can still remember the first days of my and my sister's schooling. She was crying then; she won't let go of my father, who was carrying me back then. As for me, I went to school one day ahead. Mommy said that back then, I was so excited to go to school that they had to make a fake ID for me. Now, she is graduating, at the last stages of school. Planning to be a doctor, she embarks on a journey of her own. I'm also embarking of my journey of my own. I want to do these. I want to take these. Sometimes, I get scared of my own plans. (My plan is another blog)

Why can't we just have a damn instructions to life? How to live? How to make money? How to be successful? If it is just easy as dropping out of school and making things, like what Bill Gates did, then, I would gladly do it.

JUST MAYBE, this is why life is INTERESTING. Worth LIVING. An ADVENTURE journey to savor. AND I WANT ADVENTURE. If you have family and friends, what is worth fearing about? Though, the goal is not as enjoying as expected. It may just be a boiling mud. And say,"What an AWESOME HIKE!"

Christmas day!

Merry Christmas, readers! Whether you have a God or an Allah --- or  Buddha.

How many men and women in the Philippines are celebrating their Christmas coldly tonight? The families of those massacred, of those who died in boat collision, of those victims of poor governing, of those victims of natural calamities (eg Mayon Volcano eruption and Typhoon Ondoy).

How many people who they wished they can help other people in one way or another, yet they cannot? Even get a new clothes for Christmas, they cannot.  How many people are those who are abundant, yet do not give? Rich government, poor people.

What will happen to the government after Christmas? Election. Pure dirty elections. Save us, Oh Lord.

Let us spread the Love! :) Merry Christmas. May Jesus enter and stay in our Hearts.

I want to be teacher.

Cool. I thought she was just that someone.

Here's the case: there is cheating in our LT. But what is being a student without any cheating, right? HAHA. Joke.

But, the instructor has been informed that THERE WAS cheating. It was proven by a reliable source of her, her sister. So a retest will be made for all! At first, of course, it was hard. Another Long test. Another two and half to three hours of test.

But what was good about it was the reason behind it. With all effort, she explains to us the reason behind the retest: to uphold Dignity and Integrity. Now that was something. You will be able to graduate with dignity and integrity and also pride. I know that it is not about the grades. But for the students, it may really be hard. She even showed us her graduation symbol and the cartolina-sized DIPLOMA.

I forgot some of her explanations. But all I knew, is that she said that corruption started with just cheating because it was not straighten early on. Now she was there to make that difference. A teacher. I want to be a teacher to uphold Dignity and Integrity to each.

I do not imply that the leaders we have now do not have Dignity and Integrity. I say that MOST of them don not have it. Madam, please just go to sleep, would you? Are you not satisfied?

If you cannot, go to some cheap school.
